A Disney Cruise? This Wasn't Part of the Plan.

Buckle up, because this isn’t a story my wife or I ever imagined we’d be telling, let alone living. The plan was simple: my mother-in-law needed back surgery, and we'd help her recover while she was on the cruise. We quickly discovered she was set to sleep on a pull-out bed in her friend’s room—the same friend who suffers from horrible motion sickness. So, we made the decision: she needed her own room, and we’d tag along to assist her during her recovery.

That was all well and good... until we found out this was a Disney cruise.

And just to throw in the cherry on top, my mother-in-law backs out of the surgery entirely.

So, here we are in early September 2025, bound for Vancouver and then onto the Disney Wonder for a 7-night Alaskan cruise. The real question now: can the majestic Alaskan landscapes, glaciers, and wildlife possibly outweigh the overwhelming presence of Disney characters and the sea of children on board?

Our  travels start with flights from Houston to Vancouver with United and a stay at the Fairmont Waterfront in Vancouver, before we join the Disney Wonder for the start of our trip to Alaska with Glacier viewing of the Stikine Icecap on Day 3, Skagway on Day 4, Juneau on Day 5, Ketchikan on Day 6, and departure and travel back to Houston on Day 8.

More to come……
